3 PhD Scholarships Available

The PH-NLREDUCTION project is inviting applications for a total of 3 PhD scholarships. The details can be found on the website of Bangladesh Agricultural University (https://bau.edu.bd) and the project’s own website (https://ph-nlreduction.org/).

PhD scholarship # 1

Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh has been implementing a Research Project Entitled “Upgrading value chains of nutrient-dense perishable agricultural commodities in Bangladesh:  Technological interventions and IT-based business model development to reduce postharvest and nutrient loss” in collaboration with Texas State University, USA funded by USAID Feed the Future Food Systems for Nutrition Innovation Lab (Tufts University). The project authority is inviting applications from the prospective candidates for Ph.D. in Horticulture. Applicant should have the following minimum qualifications:

  • An MS degree in Horticulture OR any other relevant disciplines of Agriculture.
  • The candidate must meet the terms and conditions for the PhD program of Bangladesh Agricultural
  • NARS scientists and public university faculties, and GoB officials are encouraged to apply.
  • Should have experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in writing manuscripts.
  • Effective interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated capacity for collaborative work.

Interested candidates are requested to submit a CV (should include academic background, Job, training & research experiences, list of publications, list of referees, etc.), (ii) a cover letter (maximum one page) through email attachment to the undersigned and CC to palash@bau.edu.bd. Scholarship and other support will be provided as per the provision mentioned in the project document.

Applicant should have the following minimum qualifications:

  • An MS degree in Fisheries Technology OR any other relevant disciplines of Fishereis.
  • The candidate must meet the terms and conditions for the PhD program of Bangladesh Agricultural University.
  • NARS scientists and public university faculties, and GoB officials are encouraged to apply.
  • Should have experience in qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, especially in writing manuscripts.
  • Effective interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • The applicant should demonstrate a willingness to engage in fieldwork aimed at developing innovative bundles of storage, packaging, and cooling technologies to mitigate post-harvest fish loss (PHFL) while preserving nutritional integrity.
  • Responsibilities will include conducting survey, collecting samples, performing comparative analysis of nutrient loss between traditional and adopted technologies, development and dissemination of an IT-based business model as well as training of various stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capacity for collaborative work.
